This business was born out of a love for my parents and a desire to help preserve their memories and celebrate their lives.
Two years ago, as my Dad’s battle with dementia became more profound, I decided that I should scan his vast collection of slides and convert them to a format he could enjoy, for long-gone were the days when he could set-up a projector and screen. 1500 slides and 600 prints later, and after countless hours editing in PhotoShop, I had amassed a collection of priceless images. I arranged them in a photo book (and a mini-album, and a calendar…) and had the book commercially printed. I was also able to put together a powerful history of Dad’s life in a slideshow just before he passed away last fall, one that was enjoyed by his caregivers in his last days and his family and friends during his remembrance services.
The other aspect of my business is a very new endeavor. My Mom is a wonderful watercolor artist and handweaver. She has a studio, and she exhibits and sells her work in venues along the Connecticut shore. For years I had thought that she needed a web presence. After my Dad died, I got her set-up on Facebook so she could share the wonderful messages of support coming from her kids’ FB friends. A couple of months later, I had the idea to get her work up on Etsy.com, a fantastic site for people to sell their handmade or vintage items. She is thrilled to be “on the net” and has shared the news with everyone she knows – which has also led to new opportunities.
So, my idea is to help you, “Bring your art to light.” I can offer my services to scan, edit, and arrange printing of your slides and photos. I can also help you establish a web presence to sell your handmade items on a site like Etsy.com. If your web-based needs are greater than my capacity to help, I can arrange a consult with a very knowledgable colleague. Thanks!
